An electric linear actuator is a kind of device that pushes or pulls something in a linear direction or straight line, which is a mechanical motion that the rotational motion in its electric motors powered by electrical energy.

Electric linear actuators are used in a variety of simple or complex processes to achieve centralized control or automatic control in the distance as an electric actuator. The linear actuators are widely used in electric power, machinery, metallurgy, transportation, coal, chemical, grain-feeding processing machinery, and other industrial fields.

Working Principle of Electric Linear Actuator

The motor drives a pair of screw nuts through a pair of gears to turn the motor's rotational motion into a linear motion and the motor is used to complete the push-pull action by using the forward and reverse rotation of the motor. The push and pull are equal. For example, complex actions such as rotational and shaking actions can be completed by various levers, rockers or linkages, and other mechanisms. The electric linear actuator can increase the stroke by changing the length of the lever arm.

Automatic Protection of Electric Linear Actuator

The electric linear actuator is equipped with an overload automatic protection device. When the stroke of the linear actuator reaches the limit position or exceeds a certain value of the rated push, it will automatically stop working to achieve overload protection, so that the motor and other components are not damaged, but it cannot be used as a stroke switch. Therefore, it is required to install a switch on the component being pushed or pulled or to install an external stroke switch device on the electric linear actuator to control its normal start and stop.

Internal Structure of Electric Linear Actuator

An electric linear actuator is composed of a drive motor, reduction gear, screw rod, copper nut, pipe, push rod, sliding seat, spring, shell, and safety switch. It has a compact structure, flexible action, and convenient installation.

The electric linear actuator is a new type of electric actuator, which is mainly composed of a motor, a push rod, and a control device. The linear actuator performs push-pull actions within a certain range of strokes. Generally speaking, the standard stroke is 100mm, 150mm, 200mm, 250mm, 300mm, 350mm, and 400mm, and the special stroke can also be designed and customized by Peaco Support according to different application needs. Electric linear actuators can be designed with different pushes according to different application loads. In general, the maximum push can reach 6000N or 12,000N and the no-load operating speed is 4mm/s~35mm/s. The electric linear actuators are powered by 12V/24V DC permanent magnet motors, converting the motor's rotational motion into linear motion.

Peaco Support provides a wide selection of electric linear actuators, including high-speed linear actuators, micro linear actuators, medical linear actuators, waterproof linear actuators, industrial linear actuators, solar tracker linear actuators, tubular linear actuators, etc. They feature an optional hall sensor, built-in limit switch, quality housing, IP66 protection grade, and the CE, RoHS, and ISO9001 certificates available. Peaco Support also provides lifting columns and remotes that can be used together with linear actuators.
