Can a VFD Convert Single Phase to Three-Phase?
Yes, VFD can power three-phase motors with single-phase input power supply. For example, single phase to 3 phase VFD can convert single phase 220V input to three phase 380V output. It outputs an analog sine wave three-phase alternating current with adjustable frequency and voltage, not a standard sine wave. Generally, variable frequency drive (VFD) can only be used to control three-phase asynchronous motors. Its speed can be adjusted by varying the output frequency of the inverter. VFD can not be used on single-phase loads.
