KNOWLEDGE BASE --- Three Transformer Cooling Methods
1. The oil-immersed self-cooled type
Natural convection is used to bring heat to tank wall of transformer and then relies on the convection conduction of air to dissipate the heat.
2. The oil-immersed air-cooled type
The oil-immersed air-cooled type is formed based on the oil-immersed self-cooled type. A fan is installed on the wall of fuel tank or on the radiating pipe and the fan is used to help cooling. After installing a fan, the capacity of transformer can be increased by 30%-35%.
3. Forced oil circulation cooling type
This can be classified into two types, forced oil-air cooled and forced oil-water cooled. It uses the oil pump to pump the oil in the transformer into the cooler and then returns it to the oil tank. The oil cooler is made into a shape that is relatively easy to dissipate heat. It is blown by a fan to circulate the cooling medium to take away the heat. If the oil circulation speed is doubled, the capacity of the transformer will increase by 30% with this forced oil circulation cooling method.
