What causes isolation transformer to burn out?
1. Overload and high temperature: After overload, the isolation transformer will generate high temperature and the insulating layer of the enameled wire is prone to failure and short circuit, which will cause the internal short circuit of the transformer and burn the transformer. Besides, the magnetic core is also easily saturated after overload.
2. Instable voltage or on-off work: The isolation transformer is a large inductance. After a sudden power failure, a high inverse peak voltage will be generated in the transformer coil due to the disappearance of magnetic field of the iron core. This inverse peak voltage is usually 8-10 times the input voltage, namely, an inverse peak voltage of thousands of volts will generate because of the instantaneous power failure at the input end of the power isolation transformer. Such a high inverse peak voltage can easily damage the insulation layer of the transformer. What's worse, the transformer will be burned out after the power is turned on.
3. Excessive humidity: the transformer will become damp and leak electricity and the internal ignition will generate high temperature and destroy the insulation layer.
In order to reduce the probability of the isolation transformer burnout, it is necessary to choose a transformer with suitable power as well as excellent quality. It is not necessary to avoid overloading. Peaco Support toroidal isolation transformer can withstand instantaneous overload, featuring full copper wire double-layer insulating paint, high temperature resistance 130 degrees. In high humidity occasions, it can also be protected by a waterproof casing to effectively prevent moisture and reduce the failure rate of the transformer.
