KNOWLEDGE BASE --- Switching Power Supply Working Principle
The working principle of switching power supply is different from that of linear power supply. Linear power supply makes the power transistor work in linear mode, while switching power supply makes the power transistor work in two working states, on and off. In other words, the amplitude of the input DC voltage is cut into the pulse voltage equal to the amplitude of the input voltage. When SMPS power supply is on, the voltage is low and the current is large, while off, the voltage is high and the current is small, namely, the loss generated on the power transistor is very small.
The switching power supply has two working modes: forward conversion and boost conversion. Although the circuit difference is small, the working process is very different and it is suitable for different occasions and requirements.
