    Toroidal Transformer Function

    The function of toroidal transformer is generally the step-up and step-down of voltage. Electric toroidal transformer plays a very important role in daily life, we usually use a variety of voltages, such as 110V/220V for life lighting, 36V for industrial safety lighting as well as the voltage of the electric welding machine that needs adjusting. The transformer can reduce the voltage to meet our needs based on the principle of electromagnetic mutual inductance of the primary and secondary coils. In the process of long-distance voltage transmission, we need to increase the voltage to a very high level to reduce the loss of voltage, usually to several thousand volts or even tens of kilovolts, which is the role of the toroidal power transformer.

    The toroidal transformer core is made of high-quality cold-rolled silicon steel sheets (generally below 0.35mm in thickness), which are seamlessly rolled, making its core performance better than the traditional laminated core. The toroidal transformer windings are evenly wound on the iron core and the direction of the magnetic field lines generated by the coil almost completely coincides with the magnetic circuit of the iron core. 

    Compared with the laminated type, the excitation energy and iron core loss will be reduced by 25%. The toroidal core is wound by silicon steel tapes, has a continuous magnetic circuit. While the transformer with laminated iron core has an air gap between the EI sheets. Therefore, a large air gap reluctance is the main disadvantage of such transformers. On the countrary, the toroidal core has no air gap and the electrical noise is much smaller than that of the EI-type and C-type iron core transformers. Toroidal Transformer adopts vacuum impregnation technology, is not easy to be deformed during winding and processing. Since the toroidal iron core is very strong, vibration and audio noise will be reduced.

    There are many fixing methods for toroidal transformers, the most common method is to use their central holes to fix. It should be noted that fasteners such as screws should not ground the top plate of the transformer and the bottom plate at the same time so as to avoid forming a short circuit.
