Single phase transformer is a special type of transformer based on single-phase power supply. The transformer is a passive electrical device that transmits power from one circuit to another through a process called electromagnetic induction and is widely and typically used to lower (step down) or increase (step up) the voltage level between circuits.

A single-phase transformer comprises a magnetic iron core as a magnetic component and a copper or aluminum winding as an electrical component. The capacity varies from different applications, ranging from 300VA to 500kVA. The transformer primary and secondary voltages have a wide range to choose, converting 480V AC to 120/24V AC, 460V AC to 120/24V AC, 440V to 220V AC, 208V to 24V AC, etc.
